FIPA Compliance

Cybele-FIPA will be offered FREE for all CybelePro customers. The Cybele-FIPA version 1.0 will be available with CybelePro version 4.0 release. Interested open source users will also be able to download Cybele-FIPA version 1.0 and higher from www.opencybele.org.

The Cybele-FIPA AP is implemented as a layer on top of Cybele and is customized to provide FIPA-compliant agent programming. Cybele-FIPA allows users to develop FIPA agents and add responder roles (i.e., service providing roles) of FIPA specified interaction protocols using FIPA compliant APIs. When a FIPA agent in the system adds an initiator role (counterpart of the same protocol), the interaction between the roles takes place according to the FIPA specification. Cybele-FIPA ensures FIPA compliant interactions and hence, a user only needs to implement roles of the interaction protocols supported by Cybele-FIPA. Cybele-FIPA also provides default roles for agents to send and receive messages to/from any other agent that does not adhere to a known FIPA interaction protocol.

Cybele-FIPA implements the FIPA specific Directory Facilitator (DF) and Agent Management System (AMS) services and provides APIs to search for agents and their services. Most importantly, Cybele-FIPA promotes AP interoperability by providing a HTTP-XML gateway for the other FIPA AP (such as JADE AP) to interact with Cybele-FIPA agents according to FIPA specifications.

The key advantage in using Cybele-FIPA is that FIPA agents can interweave and compose FIPA compliant interaction protocols to develop a complex agent interaction based on the need of the application.
